Terry Hayward, President of the Manitoba Liberal Party has announced that Jamie Pfau will carry the party banner for the Manitoba Liberals for the upcoming Tuxedo by-election on June 18, 2024.

“I’m pleased that we’ve had great interest of candidates to run for the Liberals in this by-election,” said Hayward. “We did a great job in this constituency in the past and I look forward to an active and productive campaign with Jamie.”

Manitoba Liberal Deputy Leader Willard Reaves also affirmed his support for Jamie’s nomination. “We took a walk and discussed our joint commitment to build a party that will represent the people of our constituencies and our province. As Deputy Leader, I felt that Jamie Pfau would best represent the constituents of Tuxedo and their needs,” Reaves said.

A resident of Tuxedo along with her family, Pfau is a small business owner, a PhD candidate in Community Health Sciences and President of the Manitoba Foster Parent Association. She has actively championed for improved outcomes for children in care, and has founded a non-profit called Peace For All of Us, which has purchased homes to house survivors escaping from intimate partner violence.

“I’m excited to connect with the residents of my community and listen to their concerns. It is clear the NDP government has failed to represent the needs of my community,” Pfau says. “I hope to bring a strong voice to the legislature to hold the government accountable for my constituents.”
