You Can’t Trust the Parties Who Broke the System to Fix it
Treaty One Territory, Homeland of the Red River Métis, Winnipeg, MB – With less than a week left, Manitoba Liberal Candidate for the Kirkfield Park By-Election Rhonda Nichol says she is the best choice for the constituents of Kirkfield Park. With over 29 years of serving the community as a nurse at Grace Hospital, she knows firsthand some of the issues plaguing the hospital and the health care system.
Liberals say the first step in fixing a problem is admitting you’ve made a mistake – something neither the NDP or PCs have ever done.
“From speaking to the people in Kirkfield Park, it’s clear health care is top of mind. While the other parties are telling you to vote for them to keep out the other, Manitoba Liberals are the only party that put together a plan with credible solutions,” said Nichol. “With over 33 years of experience in health care in various capacities, in both the public and private sector, it’s clear to me that we can’t trust the people who broke the system to fix it – and that includes both the PCs the NDP.”
Manitoba Liberals have been out door-knocking and speaking to constituents every day since the election was called and say it’s clear that they have a real shot at winning this seat in Kirkfield Park.
“Everyone knows that it's nurses and health care providers like Rhonda who have actually kept our health care system running while the PCs and NDP failed us,” said Dougald Lamont, Manitoba Liberal Leader and MLA for St. Boniface. “If you really want to help our health care heroes, elect one to the legislature so they can have a voice for health care providers and for the public.”
Dr. Jon Gerrard, Manitoba Liberal Health Critic, recently introduced a bill in the Manitoba Legislature to bring accountability back into the health system and hold politicians responsible for the budgets and directives they give executives in the health system. “Manitobans are tired of the back and forth of the PCs and NDP blaming each other for who managed health care worse,” said Gerrard. “Manitoba is ready for real change.” “Rhonda is the most qualified candidate and she has a real passion to fix health care,” said Willard Reaves, Manitoba Liberal Candidate for Fort Whyte. “I came within 200 votes of winning my seat in a constituency that was considered a PC stronghold this year. I urge all disenfranchised constituents to vote for Rhonda Nichol in this by-election. You won’t regret it”
